چکیده

Imaging ToF-SIMS and synchrotron-based Fourier transform infrared (SR-FT-IR) microspectroscopy have been used to obtain chemical information from individual cells derived from human prostate cancer (CaP). ToF-SIMS imaging of molecular signals characteristic of membrane bound phospholipids are used to elucidate different fracture planes within individual freezefractured CaP cells. The localisation of Cu within the cytoplasm of cancer cells is consistent with increased metastatic potential. Line scans across CaP cells using SR-FT-IR microspectroscopy provide complimentary information on the localisation ( 1 mm) of lipid and protein domains. This combined analytical approach offers a novel means of characterising individual CaP cells and investigating the biochemical basis of disease progression and metastases. # 2004 Elsevier B.V. Probing organic ligands and their binding schemes on nanocrystals by mass spectrometric and FT-IR spectroscopic imaging.

We report an analysis method to identify conjugated ligands and their binding states on semiconductor nanocrystals based on their molecular information. Surface science techniques, such as time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and FT-IR spectroscopy, are adopted based on the micro-aggregated sampling method. Typical trioctylphosphine oxide-based synthesis methods of CdSe/ZnS...

Observation of biochemical imaging changes in human pancreatic cancer tissue using Fourier-transform infrared microspectroscopy.

Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) microspectroscopic mapping can be used to distinguish between different tissue structures, and to increase the image contrast between normal and cancerous regions of a given tissue sample. This study demonstrates the biochemical changes associated with a consistent link between cancerous tissue and various molecular changes in the IR spectra of human pancreati...

PI3K and mTOR inhibitor, NVP-BEZ235, is more toxic than X-rays in prostate cancer cells

Background: Radiotherapy and adjuvant androgen deprivation therapy have historically been the first treatment choices for prostate cancer but treatment resistance often limits the capacity to effectively manage the disease. Therefore, alternative therapeutic approaches are needed. Here, the efficacies of radiotherapy and targeting the pro-survival cell signaling components epidermal growth fact...

Radiosensitizing effects of Sestrin2 in PC3 prostate cancer cells

Objective(s): The stress-responsive genes of Sestrin family are recognized as new tumor suppressor genes in breast carcinoma, however, the function of Sestrin family in human prostate cancer is not clear. Ionizing radiation (IR) is known to induce Sestrin gene expression in breast cancer cells. However, the response of Sestrin to IR has not been reported in PC3 prostate cancer cells. Materials ...

ANTISENSE RNA TO THE TYPE I INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR RECEPTOR REVERSED THE TRANSFORMED PHENOTYPE OF PC-3 HUMAN PROSTATE CANCER CELL LINE IN VITRO

The insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF-IR) plays an essential role in the establishment and maintenance of transformed phenotype. Interference with the IGF-IR pathway by antisense causes reversal of the transformed phenotype in many rodent and human tumor cell lines. We stably transfected the PC-3 human prostate cancer cell line with an IGF-IR antisense RNA expression plasmid. The ...
